IISA has taked the lead in promoting skating safety, we have taken their rules and changed little them for use in the UK.

SKATE SMART

Always wear your protective gear (Helmet, Wrist Protections, Elbows and Kneepads).
Master the basic techniques (Striding, Stopping and Turning).
Keep your equipment in good condition and proper working order.

SKATE ALERT

Skate within your capabilities at all times.
Watch for street hazards.
Avoid skating through water, oil, sand and grit.
Avoid traffic.

SKATE LEGAL

Obey all traffic regulation: when you are on skates you have the obligations as any wheeled vehicle.

SKATE COURTEOUS

Skate on the left, pass on the right.
Announce your intentions by saying passing on your right.
Always yield (give way) to pedestrians.
